The Company

WHI is an independent, locally owned business. Located in Boise, WHI performs Residential Home Inspections in Boise and Southwest Idaho. WHI is a family owned operation. The owners are Bill Wall and Matthew Wall, father and son.

The People

Bill Wall

Bill Wall retired from Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company in 1987. He worked for Hartford for 20 years, starting out as a boiler and machinery inspector in Southern Idaho. At the time of his retirement he was the Chief Inspector for Hartford's Northeast Region of the U.S.

Bill spent 10 years in the field, inspecting multi-million dollar manufacturing systems and machinery, such as oil refineries and lumber mills. His second 10 years were spent riding a desk, overseeing the engineering portion of the company's insurance activities, in various regions of the country. One of his primary responsibilities was expediting the repair of large systems and machine plants when they experienced a loss.

At the time of his retirement from Hartford Bill moved back to Idaho and joined in the home construction enterprise with Matthew.

At times he is called upon by the Hartford Insurance Company to consult on machinery losses. His last consulting job was on the 10 million dollar loss of the No. 1 Turbine at Swan Falls Dam, on the Snake river, in 1999.

At present Bill is semi-retired, but remains as President of Wall Enterprises Inc. and uses his extensive knowledge to advise and consult on inspection matters.

Matthew Wall

Matthew graduated from Borah High School in Boise. At Borah he lettered in three sports and graduated with honors. He attended the University of Idaho, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.

Matthew began his construction career at about 8 years of age helping his Dad build the family home. After school he worked construction full time, finally owning his own remodeling business, specializing in renovating older homes.

When his father retired from his corporate job, they opened their home building operation, at which they worked for 9 years. They did much of the actual construction themselves, framing, siding, roofing, drywall, and finish carpentry.

When Bill retired from the home construction business Matthew naturally migrated to the home inspection profession, using his construction knowledge and experience, as well as the professional expertise and inspection experience of his father, as aids in operating a successful home inspection business.

Matthew enjoys his work and the opportunity to meet new people every day. When he is not working he is in the outdoors hunting or fishing or boating. If he is at home he will be found in the backyard barbecuing, watching the grass grow.
